The wipers weren't working on the 73 Corvette so I decided to tackle that as my next project since unexpected rain really sucks without windshield wipers. Anytime I am not sure exactly what is wrong I like to google it first because odds are someone has already done the diagnostics of the same or similar problem and it sure is easier to learn from their mistakes than create my own.
So some things I learned about this wiper system. First when the wipers don't work most people change out the motor first and the motor is rarely the actual problem. Your other options are a wiring problem (specifically a bad ground), a bad wiper switch or a bad relay.
Their are some Youtube videos out there that will show you how to test the switch and the relay. For me the switch was only $30 and super easy to change so it seemed logical to just replace it to rule out the switch. Its worth noting that the relay gets its ground from the switch so you could THINK you have a bad relay when really you have a bad ground.
For me the switch worked so nothing further was needed. I got mine from Eckler's via Walmart.com because the price was the same but the shipping was 1/2 the price of buying directly on Eckler's website.
