Harbor Freight recently announced the launch of a new program they are calling “Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence”. The program is designed to recognize the importance of trade programs (electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, automotive, etc.) in public schools and to also recognize the people who teach these classes. Harbor Freight will be giving out over $500,000 annually to the 10 most deserving teachers and to the schools they teach at. The breakdown of the awarded money is as follows: |
• 3 first place winners will receive a Prize of $100,000 ($30,000 directly to the teacher and $70,000 to their high school’s skilled trades program)
• 7 second place winners will receive a Prize of $30,000 ($10,000 directly to the teacher and $20,000 to their high school’s skilled trades program)
All public school in the US are eligible to participate. You can apply yourself, apply on behalf of your school or you can nominate a teacher to win one of the 10 prizes.
