If you have ever used BrickSeek to look up prices or available inventory for items at Home Depot I am sure you have noticed that when an item is on clearance BrickSeek just says “Clearance” for the price. The good part is you will know if the item is likely to be in stock at that store but the bad part is the price is a complete mystery to you. Recently Milwaukee released a new FUEL high speed cordless ratchet so I thought it would be a good time to take a look at the various cordless ratchets Milwaukee offers. For the purposes of this post we will be looking at the 3/8″ ratchets. As of right now Milwaukee has the original brushed ratchet, the FUEL brushless ratchet, the extended reach FUEL ratchet and now the FUEL high speed ratchet. The table below has some of the relevant specs of each ratchet.

Harbor Freight recently sent out an e-mail touting their new line of smart home products. The new items are made by Geeni. The interesting thing about this is 99% of products sold at Harbor Freight are their own brands. Geeni as far as I can tell is not. Geeni has existed for a few years and its parent company Merkury Innovations states it has been around for nearly 20.
At some point Harbor Freight decided they wanted to get into smart home products. Many of these products are produced in China, most Harbor Freight products are produced in China. Seems to me it would be very easy for them to source these products. However it looks as though they are sourcing through another company. This is not their typical business model so I think it will be interesting to see if they continue doing this with other lines of products or if this is just a one off. It is possible that this untypical outsourcing is more related to app development or app integration than anything related directly to the products.
Because Geeni products are available at other retailers such as Amazon I wanted to compare what Harbor Freight is currently offering with the prices of those same products on Amazon. Check out the list below.

I have always avoided the YMMV type of deals on the main portion of this site because they can be hard to find in stores and therefore irrelevant to many people. The mixture of SAE and metric fasteners can be a real head ache. First you have to determine which is meant to be used on the fastener then you have to hope you have that wrench or socket. Many of the sizes are actually interchangeable… or close enough to work in many instances. Below is a conversion chart that may help you out. So the next time you can’t find a 15mm you will know that you can probably use a 19/32. (Its the one that looks brand new, almost like its never been used before.)
